Through strong leadership and attention to detail, Melissa creates memorable guest experiences and an excellent environment for our team members. Melissa has worked with Sparrow Hotels for over 10 years in a variety of roles including Special Events and Catering at Inn at the Forks, General Manager at SMITH, and most recently Food and Beverage Manager at Norwood Hotel - to include management and operations of the new Wood Tavern and Pauline bistro, slated to open at the end of October, 2019.
Melissa believes that great food and well though out menu is a key staring point for an incomparable dining experience. A serving team's ability to exceed the expectations of guests with a suprise or wow factor, like frothed milk on the side of a cup of coffee, or a heated tea cup, can take the guest experience from good to great.
For Melissa, it's always about going above and beyond, from the use of local products, compostable take-out supplies - every extra touch is important. Added up, they create magic. In her own words she says, "It's all the small details that show you care, not only about the guest but about the community and environment as well".
When Melissa isn't busy creating magic at work, she loves cycling though all of Winnipeg's beautiful trails, spending time with her 19 year old son, and chasing around her 1-year old daughter.
